NORTHRIDGE, Calif -- CSUN Softball's Isabella Alonso, Mikayla Carman, Alexis Chavez, Kylie Galindo and Raegan Jackson were placed on the 2024-25 Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators on May 27. Carman was also selected to advance to the Academic All-America Ballot.
Â
Alonso finished her junior year with the Matadors this spring with a 10-12 record and an ERA under four at 3.92. She had 11 complete games in 31 appearances, while striking out 69 in the process. She was tied for first in the Big West in saves with three. Alonso held batters in check, only allowing 34 walks in 137 innings pitched. Her 69 strikeouts were good enough for 11th in the Big West. Alonso is also coming off an impressive performance in the Big West Championship tournament. She had a clutch save in the semifinal game against Hawai'i that moved CSUN on to the championship. With CSUN clinging to a 4-3 lead, Alonso retired the Rainbow Wahine on a game-clinching double play that sent the Matadors to the championship game.Â
Â
Carman wrapped up her career with the Matadors with a stellar senior campaign. Carman was named to the All-Big West Second Team in 2025. The senior from Huntington Beach earned Academic All-District Team Honors for the second consecutive year. She was third on the team in batting average at .321 and second on the team in OPS at .852 while she only struck out eight times all year in 165 at bats. She also led the team in walks with 26 and in hits with 53. Carman was the only Matador to start and play in all 52 games this season.Â
Â
Chavez adds another accolade to her career year. In her senior season, she was named to the All-Big West Second Team. She batted .324, a close to a 100-point improvement between her junior and senior campaign. She also tallied 35 hits, 11 RBIs and 41 total bases while she had an on-base percentage of .416, good enough for fourth on the squad.
Â
Galindo finished her career with the Matadors by being named an All-Big West Honorable Mention. She finished her senior year with an average above .300 at .306. She started in 44 games and had a career best 37 hits. She was fifth on the Matadors with 15 runs batted in. Galindo also had great plate discipline, walking 11 times with an on base percentage of .369.
Â
Jackson finished her junior year by putting up career numbers in almost every category across the board. She received her first Big West accolade by being named an All-Big West Honorable Mention. She improved her batting average by 80 points in 2025, going from .185 to .265. She tallied 22 hits and 22 runs scored. Her on base percentage of .426 was good enough for third on the team. Jackson was superb defensively as well, robbing a couple home runs while producing 85 putouts.
