NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Women's Soccer's sophomore midfielder Ariana Lopez-Angel received her first career Big West Offensive Player of the Week award, as announced by the league office on Monday. Lopez-Angel helped CSUN earn its third straight victory on Saturday, as she totaled five points including her first career brace in a 4-2 triumph at UC Irvine.Â

The Matadors kept up their winning ways last Saturday thanks in large part to Lopez-Angel's offensive exploits against the Anteaters. The L.A. native scored both of her goals in the second half to keep CSUN in front of UC Irvine. Lopez-Angel's first goal of the night came in the 54th minute, as she scored from the top of the box after senior Jordyn Canister made a long drive up the field. The goal gave CSUN a 2-0 lead and began a wild four-minute stretch where three goals would be scored between the two teams. The Anteaters cut the Matador lead to 2-1 in the 57th minute, but Lopez-Angel quickly responded 34 seconds later with her second goal of the night, this time scoring from near 20 yards out.Â
Lopez-Angel capped off her big second half by assisting Michelle Monroy on a 75th minute goal that put CSUN ahead by a three-goal margin. The Matadors' eventual 4-2 victory over UC Irvine was the team's first at Anteater Stadium since 2016.Â
On the season, Lopez-Angel has produced four goals and four assists for 12 points, all of which are career bests. She currently holds the team lead in goals scored while she is second to teammate Yasmin Azar in assists and points.Â
Lopez-Angel is the third Matador to be named Big West Offensive Player of the Week this season and the second in as many weeks. Earlier this season, Azar earned the award on Sept. 14 while Malea Johnson received the honor last week.Â
CSUN (5-5-4, 3-1-1 Big West)Â returns to Matador Soccer Field on Wednesday to host Cal Poly. Kickoff is slated for 7:05 p.m. on ESPN+ with Ghizal Hasan on the call.Â
