NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- Five members of the CSUN Men's Soccer team collected All-Big West accolades on Friday, the league office announced. Senior midfielder Jorge Solorzano made All-Big West First Team, while Kayvon Monfared secured a spot on the All-Big West Second Team. Sophomore defender Daniel Garcia made the All-Big West Honorable Mention. Lastly, Dave-Ryan Tankou and Messiah Antwi made the All-Big West Rookie Team.
Â
FIRST TEAM - JORGE SOLORZANO
A native of Palmdale, Calif., Solorzano had perhaps his best season in his final year with the Matadors. His four goals are the most he's had in a season since he scored five his freshman year, the same year where he was recognized with the Freshman of the Year award in 2023. He tallied six assists and 14 points in 2026, the most he's had in a single season in both categories. Perhaps Solorzano's biggest highlight of the year came in a 3-2 win against UC San Diego during Senior Night at Matador Field. After the game was deadlocked at 2-2, he provided the deciding penalty kick goal to lead the Matadors to
victory. This is the first time Solorzano has been named to the All-Big West First Team.Â
Â
SECOND TEAM - KAYVON MONFARED
Monfared, hailing from Anaheim Hills, Calif., made a huge impact in his first season with CSUN. The senior was a big part in CSUN leading the conference in goals scored with 30. Monfared himself tallied nine scores, good for third in the Big West. He had multiple braces this season with his coming in his home debut against The Master's University on Aug. 27. It was the first time a Matador had registered two goals in one match since Deryk Jones Jr. scored two at UCSB on Oct. 23, 2024. Monfared's second brace of the season came against UC San Diego on Oct. 21 in a comeback victory. Overall, the Saint Mary's transfer led the team in points with 20 and shots on goal with 17.Â
Â
HONORABLE MENTION - DANIEL GARCIA
The sophomore defender from Huntington Beach has been recognized by the Big West for his second year in a row, as he was named to the All-Big West freshman team last season. Garcia spent the second most time on the pitch for the Matadors in 2026, as he notched 1,352 minutes on the field. He headlined a Matador defense that oversaw two shutouts. He anchored the backline, providing a pillar that coach Terry Davila could always turn to when it mattered most. Garcia played and started in 16 games this season.
Â
ALL-BIG WEST ROOKIE TEAM: DAVE-RYAN TANKOU AND MESSIAH ANTWI
Tankou, the Woodland Hills native, played in all 17 games and started in 16 of them. He was fourth on the team in goals scored with three. He had two assists, totaling eight points on the season. He was tied third in the shots on goal category with nine attempts. He played the fourth most minutes on the team at 1079. The 2026 season would be a nice bounce-back year for Tankou who had to sit out 2025 with an inju
ry.
Â
Antwi, the Valencia native, was a mainstay in the Matador rotation as well. In just his first season, he tallied the third most minutes on the team with 1,255. He had one goal, three assists and five points this season while he played in 16 games and started every one of those contests. The defender was the primary option for throw-ins on the attacking side of the field. He also had five shots on goal.
