CSUN to Honor Bob Hiegert with Memorial Game on Feb. 13

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Baseball will host the Bob Hiegert Memorial Game and Alumni Homecoming at the 2026 home opener on Friday, Feb. 13 when the Matadors take on Seattle University at 5 p.m.

The Matadors, alongside Hiegert's wife of 61 years, Jackie, and members of the Hiegert family, will honor and celebrate the memory of their former coach who led CSUN to two NCAA Division II National Championships.

CSUN Baseball Alumni interested in attending can RSVP HERE. By registering, CSUN Baseball Alumni and their guests receive seating and access to CSUN's hospitality tent, which opens at 4 p.m.

A legendary figure in CSUN Athletics, Bob Hiegert served as the longest tenured and winningest head coach in CSUN Baseball history. Hiegert accumulated 586 career victories over his career as he led the program to National Championships in 1970 and 1984. Prior to coaching, Hiegert played for four seasons as a starting shortstop at CSUN, then known at San Fernando Valley State College, during the team's early days as a program from 1960-63.

After retiring from coaching, Hiegert served as CSUN Men's Athletic Director in 1978 before assuming the Men's and Women's Athletic Director role in 1988, a position he held until 1995.

Prior to the 2025 season, CSUN Baseball renamed its home ballpark to Robert J. Hiegert Field in honor of team's legendary skipper.
