Two Matadors in Top-15 as Women's Golf Places Eighth at Jackrabbits Invitational

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Senior Gracie Piar and junior Nicole Tanoue finished tied for 14th to lead the CSUN Women's Golf team to an eighth-place finish at the conclusion of the Jackrabbits Invitational on Tuesday at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Tanoue had the Matadors' best round of the tournament on Tuesday, firing a 2-under 70 to move up 17 spots on the final leaderboard. Tanoue had an eagle and one birdie on her opening nine holes, before adding a second birdie on her final nine to close out a round of 70. At 5-over 221, Tanoue tied for 14th with scores of 76-75-70. Piar, who was tied for 25th at 5-over 149 after two rounds on Monday, finished Tuesday with three birdies, three bogeys, and 12 pars to post an even-par 72. Piar wound up with scores of 75-74-72 to also tie for 14th at 5-over 221.
After posting team rounds of 312-302 on Monday. CSUN carded a final round 2-over 290 but remained eighth in the 10-team field. UNLV (-12, 568) took home the team championship, while the Rebels' Pin Hsi Chen claimed individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 9-under 207.Â

- Freshman Sophie Cook, competing as an individual, posted her best collegiate finish, tying for 24th at 7-over 223. After posting scores of 73-75 on Monday. Cook had three birdies in a final round 3-over 75.
- Senior Kim Turgut also carded her best round of the event on Tuesday, posting three birdies in a final round even-par 72. Turgut wound up tied for 39th at 13-over 229 with scores of 82-75-72.
- Freshman Lily McGowan carded a final round 6-over 78 to finish 50th at 19-over 235 following rounds of 79-78-78.
- Meghan Paracuelles rounded out the CSUN scoring, placing 60th at 29-over 245 following rounds of 83-86-76.
