Women's Golf Tied for 15th After One Round of Chevron Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. -Â The CSUN Women's Golf team posted a team round of 309 and is tied for 15th after the opening round of the Chevron Silverado Showdown on Monday at the Silverado CC & Resort.
Individually, senior Kim Turgut had the Matadors' low round on Monday, finishing at 4-over 76. Turgut posted one birdie on round one, along with 12 pars and five bogeys.
At 21-over 309, CSUN is tied for 15th with San Francisco after 18 holes in the 16-team field. The Matadors head into Tuesday's second round just 11 shots out of the top 10. USC (277) leads the team competition by seven shots over Eastern Michigan (284), while the Trojans' Catherine Park (-5, 67) holds the individual lead by two shots over a pair of her USC teammates.Â

- Following Turgut, freshman Lily McGowan is tied for 60th at 5-over 77. McGowan had a pair of birdies in round one, along with 10 pars, five bogeys, and one double bogey.
- Sophomore Ariya Soldwisch and senior Gracie Piar are tied for 70th after one round, each posting a 6-over 78. Both players had one birdie in the opening roundÂ
- Junior Nicole Tanoue rounded out the CSUN scoring as she is tied for 77th at 7-over 79. Tanoue also had a single birdie in round one.Â
