De Luca in Top 20 After Opening Round of UC San Diego Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. -Â Senior Domenic De Luca fired an even-par 72 and is tied for 17th after the opening round of the UC San Diego Invitational on Sunday at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
As a team, CSUN posted a round one score of eight-over 297 and sits 11th in the 17-team field. Loyola Marymount carded a team round of nine-under 279 to lead the team competition, while the Lions' Â Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh (-6, 66) holds a three-shot advantage in the individual competition.
De Luca had a pair of birdies on Sunday, along with two bogeys and 14 pars to finish the day at even-par 72.

- Following De Luca, Ethan Posthumus made the turn at even-par following his lone birdie of the day at No. 17. Two bogeys on his final nine holes dropped him to 2-over 74 on the day, good for a tie for 46th.
- Bryson Barnes had a co-team-high four birdies in round one, but also had five bogeys and one double bogey to tie for 58th at 3-over 75.
- Tavin Boman and Liam Judkins are both tied for 69th at 4-over 76. Boman a pair of birdies, while Judkins matched Barnes with four birdies but also had eight bogeys.
- Dillon Jonke, competing as an individual, is tied for 81st at 6-over 78.
HEAD COACH JIM BRACKEN SAID
"We just didn't execute very well today, but we need to stay positive and play better tomorrow. We should have at least one guy under par in each round on this golf course. I'm expecting a much better round tomorrow."

All teams will tee off the second round with a 1 p.m. shotgun start on Monday afternoon.
