Boman Fires Second Round 67, CSUN Moves Into Top 10 at UCSD Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. -Â Sophomore Tavin Boman fired a 5-under 67 to move into the top 20 after 36 holes of the UC San Diego Invitational on Monday at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
After posting a team round of 8-over 297 on Sunday, CSUN carded a 2-under 286 to move into a tie for 10th at 7-over 583. Loyola Marymount (561) leads the 17-team field as the Lions carry a seven-shot lead over UC Santa Barbara (568) into Tuesday's final round. LMU's Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh (-13, 131) extended his lead to nine shots in the individual competition.
Boman, who began the day tied for 69th after an opening round 4-over 76, had an eagle and five birdies in round two as he moved into a tie for 18th at 1-under 143. Boman had three birdies and two bogeys over his opening nine holes to make the turn at 1-under. He then added an eagle at the par-5 5th hole and two more birdies to close out a round of 5-under 67.Â

- Following Boman, Ethan Posthumus carded four birdies in an even-par 72 on Monday. Posthumus moved four spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 42nd at 2-over 146.
- Senior Domenic De Luca, who began the day tied for 17th after an even-par 72 on Sunday, had two birdies, two bogeys, and a pair of double bogeys in a round of 3-over 75 on Monday. He dropped into a tie for 45th at 3-over 147.
- Bryson Barnes also carded an even-par 72 on Monday to move into a tie with De Luca in 45th place. Barnes had four birdies in round two, three coming over his final four holes of the day.
- Dillon Jonke, competing as an individual, opened with a 6-over 78 on Sunday before notching three birdies in a 1-over 73 on Monday to move into 71st at 7-over 151.
- Liam Judkins is tied for 81st at 10-over 154 following rounds of 76-78.
HEAD COACH JIM BRACKEN SAID
"We just didn't get a fourth score today, but we shot under par as a team which was one of our goals to start the day. It was nice to see Tavin play well, and Bryson finished strong. Today was definitely a step in the right direction, hoping for another good round tomorrow."

All teams will tee off the third and final round with a 7 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday morning.
