NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUNÂ third baseman Kyle Panganiban earned his first career Big West Field Player of the Week award on Monday, as announced by the league office.Â
A Cerritos native, Panganiban batted an even .500 at the plate and slugged .700 across a perfect 4-0 week for CSUN on the road, which included a three-game sweep of Cal State Fullerton over the weekend. Panganiban also totaled 10 hits, six runs scored, two RBI, two stolen bases and a homer for the week.

After beginning the week by picking up a hit in an 11-9 win over Fresno State last Tuesday, Panganiban registered a big series against Cal State Fullerton at Goodwin Field. Panganiban would record nine hits in 15 at bats and score five times in the series sweep of the Titans.Â
The sophomore opened the Fullerton series with a 5-for-5 effort at the plate, scoring three of CSUN's five runs in a 5-3 win last Friday. Panganiban would hammer his seventh home run of the season in game two, helping the Matadors to a 6-2 win on Saturday to clinch the series. On Sunday against the Titans, Panganiban racked up three more hits and collected a clutch two-out RBI single in the ninth inning for an eventual 4-1 victory to clinch the series sweep.Â
Panganiban's efforts at the plate this week improved his season batting average from .271 at the start of the week to .322 after the four games. He currently ranks fourth in the Big West in RBI (24) and home runs (7) while he is seventh in base hits (29) and eighth in slugging percentage (.600).Â
Panganiban is the third Matador to earn the Big West Field Player of the Week award this season, joining past winners Matthew Thomas (March 2) and Andrew Becker (March 9). Overall, CSUN has four Big West Player of the Week honorees this season as Jaiden Turner also received the Pitcher of the Week honor on March 9.Â
CSUN returns to Robert J. Hiegert Field this weekend to host a three-game series with Cal State Bakersfield. The opener is set for Friday at 5:00 p.m.Â
