Barnes Posts Best Career Finish at Wyoming Cowboy Classic

MARICOPA, Ariz. - Sophomore Bryson Barnes carded a final round 2-under 70 to finish a career-best second at the conclusion of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Wednesday at Ak-Shin Southern Dunes Golf Course.
Barnes, who fired a career-best 66 in round two, finished at 11-under 205, two shots off the lead, to place second in the 128-player field. Barnes had 10 birdies and one eagle on day one (Tuesday) as play in the second round was suspended due to darkness. He then added five birdies and 10 pars in Tuesday's final round.
The sophomore from Long Beach now has a pair of top-five finishes in his last three tournaments after tying for fifth at Fresno State's Watney Invitational on Mar. 2-3.
After posting team rounds of 7-under 281 and 5-over 293 over the first two rounds, CSUN finished the final round at 7-over 295 to finish 13th in the 25-team field at 5-over 869. USC (26-under, 838) led from start to finish to claim the team championship, while Thomas Schmidt of Arkansas State took home individual medalist honors at 13-under 203, two shots better than Barnes.

- Following Barnes, sophomore Tavin Boman tied for 72nd at 5-over 221 following rounds of 72-73-76.
- Ethan Posthumus tied for 84th at 8-over 224 following rounds of 71-77-76.
- Liam Judkins tied for 99th at 10-over 226 after posting scores of 76-77-73.
- Senior Domenic De Luca rounded out the CSUN scoring, tying for 114th at 15-over 231 following rounds of 69-81-81.
HEAD COACH JIM BRACKEN SAID
"We beat a lot of good teams at this tournament, which shows what we're capable of. I'm happy with the progress we've made. This should give Bryson a ton of confidence; he hit the ball well and made his putts. We're looking forward to the UC Davis tournament and having a good finish there and head into conference with some confidence."

CSUN will have one final tournament before the 2026 Big West Men's Golf Championship as the Matadors travel to the El Macero Classic (Apr. 10-12) hosted by UC Davis at El Macero CC.
