NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- Five members of the 2025 CSUN Women's Team earned All-Big West recognition on Thursday, the league office announced. Angela Ho, Satsuki Ishikawa and Emma Moratalla Sanz were honored for their singles play, while the teams of Nicole West and Ho, and Sandra Isabela Arguelles and Moratalla Sanz were honored for their doubles play.Â
Â
Ho, the senior from San Francisco, earned her second career Big West First-Team honors, as she was named to the team in 2023 as well. Primarily playing at No.1, the spot reserved for the best player on one's team, Ho garnered a 13-9 record. She opened up the season with five wins in the non-conference part of the schedule. When it came to Big West opponents, Ho found the winner's circle against UC Riverside, UC San Diego, Hawai'i, UC Irvine while also besting Cal State Fullerton in the Big West Championship.Â
Â
Ho also had a stellar doubles campaign with her partner West. The duo, who was named to the first team, led the team in wins, going 15-6, all at the No.1 spot. A big highlight for them was winning seven out of eight against Big West opponents from March 21 to April 23, with their lone defeat coming against UC San Diego. This is the first time West has won an award from the Big West.
Â
Ishikawa had a fantastic first year in Matador red for this year's team. Earning honorable mention, the freshman from Hyogo, Japan was undefeated in the regular season, going 13-0, primarily playing on Courts No.4 and No. 5. Her seven Big West regular season wins came in straight sets.Â
Â
Moratalla Sanz, one of the leaders on this team, earned her first Big West honors in her last season.Â
Â
The senior from Valencia, Spain, led the team in singles wins, going 17-6 including winning four in a row versus UC Irvine, Long Beach State, UC San Diego and Hawai'i from April 4-18. A big highlight for Moratalla Sanz was her clinching the victory in a tight 4-3 match against Long Beach State on April 10, where she delivered a three-set, back and forth victory over Diana De Simone, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.
Â
Moratalla Sanz also had a strong showing in doubles with her partner Arguelles. The duo was honored with a spot on the Honorable Mention team. They went 10-8 in doubles play, solely playing at the second position. A key win for them was taking down Cal Poly for the doubles point in the semifinals of the Big West Championship. The tandem defeated Jessica MacCallum and Sarah MacCallum, 6-3.
Â
CSUN wrapped up the 2026 season with a semifinal appearance in the Big West Championship, going 16-8 overall and 5-4 in conference play. The Matadors' two playoff wins came against UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton.
