CSUN Slips to 16th at Chevron Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. - The CSUN Women's Golf team posted a five-shot improvement from round one to round two but slipped from 15th into 16th place after the second round of the Chevron Silverado Showdown on Tuesday at the Silverado CC & Resort.
The Matadors followed up a round of 309 on Monday with a 16-over 304 on Tuesday but fell to 16th as a team at 37-over 613. USC (559) continued to lead the team competition by six shots over Eastern Michigan (565), while EMU's Janae Leovao took over the individual lead at 6-under 138.
Individually, senior Kim Turgut continued to lead the Matadors through two rounds. After a 4-over 76 in round one, Turgut had a pair of birdies in a 3-over 75 on Tuesday to move into a tie for 47th at 7-over 151.Â

- Following Turgut, junior Nicole Tanoue moved up into a tie for 61st at 10-over 154. Tanoue followed up a 7-over 79 in round one with a team-high three birdies in round two to finish at 3-over 75.
- Sophomore Ariya Soldwisch and senior Gracie Piar remained tied on the leaderboard after each finished at 5-over 77 in round two. Both players finished round one at 6-over 79 before Piar notched a pair of birdies and Soldwisch had one on Tuesday.
- Freshman Lily McGowan, who opened with a 5-over 77, posted a 10-over 82 in the second round to slip into a tie for 83rd at 15-over 159.
