Nine Matadors Named ITA Scholar-Athletes

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2026 Division I Women's ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams this past Monday on July 13.
Nine members of the CSUN Women's Tennis program collected Division I Women's Scholar-Athlete honors while the Matadors received All-Academic recognition as a team as well.Â
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements: Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) and for the current academic year, be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements: Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), and all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, as well as all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
Earning ITA Scholar-Athlete honors this year were Sandra Isabella Arguelles, Angela Ho, Emma Moratalla Sanz, Vitoria Solis Urdiales, Isabella Chavarria, Madison Shepperson, Annette Robertson, Satsuki Ishikawa and Nicole West.
The Matadors have received All-Academic Team accolades 12 times in team history.
Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2026, 1,501 Division I Women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 231 Women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
