Sean Skelly Returns to CSUN as Member of Coaching Staff

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---Head baseball coach Eddie Cornejo has announced the addition of Sean Skelly to the CSUN Baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2026-27 year.

Skelly returns to the Matadors where he was a standout catcher for three seasons from 2019-21.

"We are excited to have Sean Skelly back in a Matador uniform," said Cornejo. "He will be a great compliment to our current staff. Since becoming a coach, he has shown a high level of dedication and passion for student-athlete development."

Skelly spent the past two seasons as a member of the Cal State Fullerton staff, serving as director of player development. The Titans reached the Big West Championship tournament in each of the past two seasons with Skelly in the dugout. He also served as the program's camp coordinator while he oversaw student managers and the data analytics team.Â
Â
Prior to his time in coaching, Skelly played college baseball with Tennessee and Orange Coast College before spending his final three seasons with CSUN.

Skelly played in 80 career games, making 61 starts as he batted .307 with 10 homers and 37 RBI in a Matador uniform.
Â
In 2019, Skelly earned All-Big West Second Team honors after hitting .288 with 31 runs scored, 21 RBI and seven homers. Skelly would also lead the Matadors with a .432 on-base percentage while accumulating 33 walks.Â
With CSUN, Skelly was named Big West Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2020-21. He wrapped up his playing career slashing .365/.453/.519 in an injury-shortened 2021 campaign.Â

Following his time in college, Skelly played independent baseball with the Odgen Raptors and Boise Hawks in the Pioneer League. Over his three seasons playing professionally, Skelly appeared in 141 games while hitting 20 home runs with 81 RBI and an .846 OPS.Â
Skelly earned a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in public administration from CSUN.Â
