CSUN Women's Tennis Announces 2026-27 Schedule

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.--- CSUN Women's Tennis head coach Gary Victor has released the Matadors' 2026-27 fall and spring schedule which is set to kick off Sep. 18 with the Claremont/Pomona Pitzer Invitational. Spring competition will begin Jan. 15 with the Long Beach State Winter Invitational.

"This is an exciting time for CSUN Tennis with six new motivated and talented players," Head coach Gary Victor said. "We will be looking for ways to improve every day and finding doubles teams that complement each other."

The Matadors are expected to play in four fall competitions to round out 2026. CSUN will play in the Claremont/Pomona Pitzer Invitational on Sep. 18 in Claremont, CA. Following that, the Big West Individuals will happen from Oct. 1-4 in San Diego. Two weeks later from Oct. 15-19, CSUN will compete in the ITA Southwest Regionals.

To round out the fall schedule, and to kick off November, CSUN will host the annual CSUN Fall Invite from Nov. 6-8

The first spring duel will take place on Jan. 24. A home contest against Santa Clara.

Five days later, CSUN will again host a home bout, this time against Cal State LA. The Matadors currently have a 14 game winning streak against the Golden Eagles. CSUN hasn't dropped a match to them since 1990.

A day after, the Matadors will head out to Pasadena to take on Caltech. CSUN had a clean sweep of the Beavers, 7-0 on Jan. 31.

In their first matchup in February, the Matadors travel to the campus of Loyola Marymount to take on the Lions on the sixth. LMU got the better hand over CSUN in 2026, as the Matadors have their eyes on revenge.

The next day, CSUN heads down to San Diego State to tackle the Aztecs, with first serve at 11:00 a.m.

The Matadors will then have a 12 day layoff, with their next matchup coming on Feb. 19, a home contest against Nevada. CSUN leads the all-time record against the Wolfpack, 6-2. The last time these two teams squared off was in 2019 (a 4-3 neutral site victory).

The 2027 Big West slate of competition begins on the road on Feb. 21 against Cal Poly.

CSUN then hosts Youngstown State on March 3, at Matador Tennis Complex before embarking on a four-game road trip that includes Idaho State (Mar. 6), UNLV (Mar. 7), UC Davis (Mar. 13) and San Jose State (Mar. 14)

After the four duels away from home, CSUN will have its longest homestand of the season. The Matadors take on Harvard on March 17, Sacramento State on March 21, and UC Irvine on April 3. The contest against the Hornets marks that the rest of the season will be against Big West opponents.

CSUN will then hit the road to take on UC Riverside on April 4. The Matadors own a 22 game win streak against the Highlanders.

After a six-day break, CSUN will head to Long Beach State. The Matadors won its lone contest with the Beach in a nail biter, 4-3 in 2026 in Northridge.

CSUN will then perhaps have its toughest matchup in conference play when it takes on defending champion UC Santa Barbara at home on April 15.

In the penultimate contest of the season, the Matadors will embark on their final road trip to take on UC San Diego on April 18. In 2026, CSUN defeated the Tritons, 5-2 at home.

Senior day and the regular season finale will occur on April 23 as the Matadors host Cal State Fullerton.

The Big West Championship will commence on April 27 in San Diego at Barnes Tennis Center.

The Matadors are returning four letterwinners and six newcomers for the upcoming season. Leading the returning group include Tallia Harper and Satsuki Ishikawa. Harper finished 2025-26 with a 9-11 record while Ishikawa had a breakout season in just her first year. A freshman last season, Ishikawa began her Matador career with an undefeated streak of 13 in a row before ultimately finishing the campaign with a 13-2 record.

Overall, CSUN finished with a 16-8 record in 2025-26. The Matadors had a historic run in the ITA Southwest Regionals in the fall and won two postseason matches for the first time since 2004.

The Matadors also went 10-2 at home, posting the most wins at home since the 2022-23 season when they went 11-1. CSUN went 6-1 against teams outside the Big West in Northridge, including picking up impressive wins versus Richmond, Fresno State and Youngstown State. In the final four Big West games at home, CSUN went a perfect 4-0, including blanking Hawai'i, 7-0.
