John Van Houten completed his third season as director of operations to the men's basketball team and his fourth year overall at CSUN in 2020-21.
Van Houten joined the Matadors in 2017-18 where he served as the video coordinator under former head coach Reggie Theus. He would become the director of men's basketball operations in head coach Mark Gottfried's first season in 2018-19.
Van Houten previously served as the Head Coach at O'Farrell Charter High School from 2013-17. During his tenure with the Falcons, O'Farrell Charter earned their first win in school history along with three consecutive league championships and a CIF San Diego Section Championship in 2016.Â
From 2011-13, Van Houten served as a team manager at San Diego State under head coach Steve Fisher.Â
He graduated from San Diego State University in 2013, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.Â
