After serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the CSUN Women's Volleyball team in 2021, former Matador CJ Suarez joins Jeff Campbell's staff in the same role in 2022.
Suarez lettered for the nationally-ranked men's volleyball team from 2015-19. He finished his career with 492 career digs, averaging 1.88 digs per set. Suarez currently ranks 10th in CSUN's rally scoring era in digs and ranks sixth in digs per set. He played in a total of 72 matches and 252 sets as a Matador. He posted a career-high 21 digs against No. 10 Loyola Marymount as a senior in 2017 and reached double figures in digs 15 times in his career.Â
He began his coaching career at Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga, Calif. Suarez was the head coach of the Boys JV team and also assisted on the Boys varsity from 2012-13. He spent four seasons (2015-19) assisting with the CSUNÂ men's club volleyball team before moving on to club volleyball, working with SoCal Legends for the past three years.
Suarez also worked as a physical therapy aide at JMP Physical Therapy in Agoura Hills and Sports and Spine Rehabilitation Center in North Hollywood.

A native of Mission Hills, Calif., Suarez earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology/exercise science from CSUN in 2018.
