Matthew Jones is in his first season as an undergraduate manager for the CSUN softball team. Jones joins the Matadors’ program from Los Angeles Mission College where he served as an assistant softball coach from 2019-22.

Jones helped guide LA Mission to the 2022 CCCAA Tournament as Jizzell Ruiz earned 2022 NFCA CALJC Golden Shoe Award. Seven LA Mission players earned All-Conference honors in 2022. He spent a season (2016-17) at Glendale College as an assistant coach.

Jones served as a head softball coach on the prep level at South Pasadena High School (2018-19) and at Immaculate Heart Middle School (2018). At Glendale High School (2011-16), Jones served as the head JV and assistant varsity softball coach.

A member of the NFCA since 2014, Jones has received coaching endorsements from the NFCA in hitting and pitching.

Jones is studying Kinesiology at CSUN after graduating cum laude from Los Angeles City College with associate degrees in Modern Political Studies (Feb. 2021), Social and Behavioral Science (Feb. 2021), Kinesiology (June 2022), and Natural Sciences and Mathematics (June 2022).
