Ari Homayun completed her second season as head coach of the CSUN beach volleyball program in 2024. The former University of Hawai'i standout joined the program as an assistant coach prior to the 2022 season and was promoted to head coach beginning with the 2023 season.
In two seasons leading the program, Homayun has led CSUN to 33 wins, second-most among four head coaches in program history.
This past season, the Matadors finished with a record of 16-17 and advanced to the second day of the Big West Beach Championship for the first time since 2019. She served her first season as head coach in 2023, leading the Matadors to a 17-16 overall record.
Including serving as assistant head coach in 2022, CSUN has won 50 times in Homayun's three seasons on the sand in Northridge. CSUN has matched the program record with 17 wins in two of Homayun's three seasons (2022 and 2023).
This past season, CSUN finished 17-16 including a 10-6 mark at home. The Matadors posted impressive wins over Houston Baptist, Boise State, Texas and Utah during the 2023 campaign. The No. 6 seed in the 2023 Big West Championship, CSUN finished 1-2 before falling in a 3-2 heartbreaker to Cal Poly at Queens Beach in Hawai'i. Two Matador pairs earned All-Big West honors as Abbey Sweeting and Gabriela Greigo earned second-team honors while Lauren Eknoian and Tasha Mae were named honorable mention.
In Homayun's first season (2022), the Matadors finishing a program-best 13-5 in 18 home matches, CSUN matched the 2021 team for the most-ever home matches in program history (18) but won three more times than the 2021 team which finished 10-8 on the home sand.
After falling to Cal Poly in their opener and needing a win to stave off elimination at the Big West Championship in San Luis Obispo, the Matadors responded with a 4-1 victory over the Hornets to improve to 17-16 on the season. CSUN would fall in its next match to UC Davis (4-1) to finish the season at 17-17.
She joined the staff at Cal Poly after spending one season at Hawai'i in 2020 as a volunteer assistant coach for the Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball team.
A 2019 graduate of Hawai'i, Homayun earned her bachelor's degree in secondary education in social studies after enjoying a decorated four-year career on the sand. She finished as UH's all-time leader in overall (118) and dual (115) match wins and was a multi-time All-Big West, AVCA Top Flight Award, and academic All-Big West honoree.
A native of West Hills, Calif., Homayun prepped at El Camino Real Charter High School in Woodland Hills, Calif. where she was a letterwinner in volleyball.

Homayun spent the 2021 season as an assistant coach on head coach Todd Rogers' staff at Cal Poly. In her one season in San Luis Obispo, she helped the Mustangs to a 24-11 overall record which included the program's first-ever NCAA Championship match win (3-2 vs. Stanford). Cal Poly finished the 2021 season with a No. 6 national ranking and was ranked in the top 10 of the AVCA Collegiate Beach Coaches Top-20 the entire season.
