Tony Castro completed his fourth year as an assistant coach to the women's soccer team in 2021-22. He works with the Matador goalkeepers and handles administrative duties. Overall, Castro has spent seven total years as a coach at CSUN.
During his time with the women's soccer team, Castro has helped the Matadors post 15 shutouts including a Big West-best 11 clean sheets in 2019. He has worked with starting goalkeeper Amanda Delgado and helped mentor her to all-conference accolades at CSUN. In 2019, CSUN would advance to the Big West Tournament title game, tying a school record with 12 wins. That season also saw the Matadors post a conference-leading 0.87 goals-against-average.
Castro previously spent three seasons as a volunteer assistant coach to the CSUN Men's Soccer team (2015-17). He helped the Matadors win two South Division titles, and advance to the NCAA Tournament in 2016. With Castro on the staff, CSUN posted a Big West-best goals-against-average (1.11) in 2016 while the team ranked second in 2015 (1.29) and 2017 (1.06). Castro also worked with Big West Goalkeeper of the Year recipients Kevin Marquez (2016) and Henrik Regitnik (2017).Â

Along with his time at CSUN, Castro has coaching experience at the professional and collegiate level. He served as a goalkeeper coach with the National Premier Soccer League's Santa Clarita Storm (2013-14). Castro also worked with the men's (2010-12) and women's soccer teams (2009) at College of the Canyons.Â

At the high school level, he spent time at West Ranch High School (2013-14), Golden Valley High School (2011-12), Hart High School (2010-11, 2008-09) and John Burroughs High School (2007-08) during his coaching career.Â

Since 2015, Castro has coached youth with Real So Cal Soccer Club. He also worked with the Santa Clarita Valley Magic U16 and Valley United Blast U23.Â

Castro is currently a player for UPSL's Valley United. A four-year letterwinner at John Burroughs High School (2003-07), Castro played collegiate soccer at College of the Canyons from 2007-09.Â
