Dave Hagler is a welcome addition to the CSUN Women's Tennis coaching staff. He enters his first season as an assistant coach to the Matadors in 2024-25.
Hagler is a longtime Southern California teaching professional with a strong track record in High Performance and Junior Player Development. He is a RSPA (USPTA) Master Professional and Coach Developer. Hagler also holds a Specialist Certification in Sport Science. He is a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Master of Tennis – Performance.
Coach Hagler has developed numerous sectionally and nationally ranked junior players, coached (Adult) NTRP National Championship Teams, and coached a player on the ITF Circuit. Hagler is a 2001 graduate of the USTA High Performance Coaching Program, which he attended with head coach Gary Victor. He has been a head college coach and coached USTA Competition Training Center and Zonals Teams. Hagler has received service awards from the Southern California and Intercollegiate Tennis Associations. He is also a two-time Los Angeles District and 2007 California Division Pro of the Year.
Hagler has spoken at conventions on topics including games-based teaching, anticipation, stroke production, developing touch, teaching groups, and choices you make as a tennis pro. He has been published in The ITF Sport Science Review, Addvantage, Tennis, TennisPro, SmashTennis and on TennisPlayer.net. His articles have been translated into Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese and Dutch. He is a member of the Head/Penn Advisory Staff and was the 2010 Head / Penn Racquet Sports Southern California Ad Staff Member of the year.
Hagler grew up in Colorado and has a B.S. in Recreation Management and an M.B.A., both from the University of Colorado. His hobbies include fishing, baking, reading, and watching K-Dramas and Anime with his wife, Vilma. Dave and Vilma have been married for over 30 years. Her support and encouragement have played an integral role in his success.
