Cheridan Hawkins will begin her fourth season on the CSUN coaching staff in the Spring of 2021. Hawkins serves as the Matadors pitching coach.

Jillian James earned first-team All-Conference in and third-team All-Region honors in 2019 in the circle. James became just the 10th CSUN pitcher to strikeout at least 200 in a single season and her total of 206 was the fourth most by a CSUN pitcher at the Division I level.

Hawkins came to CSUN from UC Riverside where she served as the Highlanders’ pitching coach during the 2017 season. With Hawkins guiding the UCR pitchers, UC Riverside posted 28 victories and registered a team 3.36 ERA.

On the diamond, Hawkins made her mark on the Oregon (2013-16) record book. A three-time All-American, she exited the program as the all-time leader in career strikeouts (1,081), wins (108) and shutouts (33). Guiding Oregon to four-straight Pac-12 titles including the school’s first in program history in 2013.

Hawkins helped lead the Ducks to consecutive Women's College World Series appearances from 2014-15. A three-time Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year winner, Hawkins racked up a number of awards including two NFCA All-American first team accolades as well as a third team nod as a senior along with four NFCA All-Pacific Region, four All-Pac-12 first team and three Academic All-American awards. Hawkins was also a top three finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year in 2015.

In addition, Hawkins has international experience competing with USA Softball as a member of the 2013 USA Junior National Team along with a stint with the 2013 USA Women's National Team where she helped guide the team to a silver medal finish at the World Cup. Hawkins returned to Team USA last summer as a member of the Softball Women's Elite Team.

Following her collegiate career, Hawkins was selected 29th overall in the 2016 National Pro Fastpitch Draft by the Dallas Charge. Hawkins currently plays for Scrap Yard Fast Pitch. Hawkins helped lead the Scrap Yard Dawgs to the 2017 NPSF championship as she went 9-6 with a save.

A 2015 NFCA Scholar Athlete, Hawkins graduated Cum Laude from the University of Oregon with a degree in family and human services along with a minor in special education.
