Chevalier ranks among the school's all-time leaders in career assists (481), free throws (396), free throw attempts (486), free throw percentage (.815), and steals (184). He is just one of eight Matadors to ever record at least 1,000 points and 200 assists over a career.
With CSUN, Chevalier was a member of the school's first men's basketball team to play a full Division I schedule in 1990-91. His CSUN accomplishments also include the basketball MVP award being renamed in his honor: The Andre Chevalier Most Valuable Player Award.

A 1994 CSUN graduate in African-American Studies, Chevalier also received a Master's in Secondary Education. He earned Academic All-American honors after his junior and senior seasons.
Chevalier has been one of the most respected basketball coaches and trainers in the greater Los Angeles area since his playing days ended. In 1998, he returned to CSUN as an assistant coach under head coach Bobby Braswell and helped the Matadors post two-straight winning seasons. He also had a memorable run at Oaks Christian School beginning in 2007 where he went on to win CIF Southern Section titles as the head coach of the girls' and boys' varsity teams.
He was named head coach at Sierra Canyon High School in 2015, and would lead the program back to prominence. Chevalier recorded career win No. 450 during the CIFSS playoffs, when Sierra Canyon defeated Redondo Union, 69-66, in overtime. His career record includes a 207-40 mark at Sierra Canyon. Since taking over the program, Sierra Canyon has been the preseason No. 1 team in the state for four straight seasons. Chevalier was named the 2025 State Coach of the Year after winning his third CIF state title.
