Douglas McKenzie was inducted into the CSUN Athletics Hall of Fame in 1992. McKenzie lettered as a pitcher for Hall of Fame head coach Bob Hiegert from 1981 to 1982.

McKenzie's senior season remains as one of the most prolific in CSUN history. He would set a school record with 14 wins that season, recording 11 complete games and a 2.64 ERA over 20 total appearances. McKenzie would collect a host of awards, including All-America, All-District VIII, All-CCAA honors following the year.Â
He still ranks among the program's all-time greats in five different top-10 list categories in school history. His 14 wins in 1982 are still tied for the most by a CSUN pitcher in a season while his 21 career victories are the seventh-most.Â
McKenzie, who graduated from CSUN in 1982, was selected in the 17th round (425th overall pick) of the 1982 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and played four years in the organization.
