CSUN Concludes 2015 Season at NCAA West Regional

SEATTLE, Wash. - The CSUN men's and women's cross country squads concluded the 2015 season Friday as the men were 30th and the women 34th at the NCAA West Region Championships at Jefferson Golf Course.
The Matador women placed 34th out of 35 teams while 30 schools competed on the men's side.
In the women's 6k, CSUN tallies 1,015 points as senior Elizabeth Nelson finished a team-best 183rd. Nelson clocked a time of 23:26.9 and was followed closely by teammate Rachel Naumann who was 188th in 23:32.2. Also for the Matadors, Katie Alvarenga finished 201st (23:44.0), Kimberly Newton was 229th (24:34.5), Jocelyne Ferrufino was 234th (24:48.1) and Rachael Duriez was 235th (24:56.9).
In the men's 10k, CSUN totaled 882 points as Michael Merchan finished 150th to lead the team. Merchan completed a solid first season by running a time of 34:28.4. Charlie Nettle also had a solid season for the Matadors capped by finishing just a spot behind his teammate at 34:29.7. Mario Ramirez finished 191st (35:55.9), Manuel Vargas was 197th (36:12.2) and Ricardo Garcia was 205th (39:30.4).
