Matadors Improve to 25-9 with Victory at Pacific

Sophomore Taylor Glover led the offensive charge by tying a career high with four hits. She missed hitting for the cycle by a triple and recoded her seventh double and fourth home run of the season. She also added three runs scored and her 21st stolen base of the season.Â
Junior Ariana Wassmer and freshman Savannah Horvath each had three hits in the victory. Horvath missed the cycle by a home run while recording her first triple and team-leading 10th double of the season. Wassmer also tied a career high with her three hits and added two RBIs to raise her season total to 12.Â
In the circle, Elder (10-3) turned in a complete game with 10 strikeouts. She now has four double-digit strikeout games this season and 122 for the season. She allowed only four hits and is 10-3 with a 2.02 ERA while holding opponents to a .192 batting average in 100.1 innings this season.Â
The Matadors scored a single run in the first, second and third inning Sunday. In the first, Horvath drove in Glover with an RBI single. In the second, Kaitlin Toerner, who was the fourth Matador to finish with multiple hits, doubled down the left field line to score Tara Kliebenstein. Finally, the third inning saw Wassmer drive in Horvath.Â
Pacific got back into the game on a two-run home run, but the Matadors scored a pair of insurance runs in both the sixth and seventh innings.
In the sixth, Horvath's triple scored Glover and she came home on an RBI single from Wassmer. The seventh saw Glover launch a two-run home run to score both her and Taylor Nate.Â
