CSUN Wins Third Straight, 4-1 Over Concordia

NORTHRIDGE, CA - The CSUN beach volleyball team extended its season-long winning streak to three straight matches Thursday as the Matadors picked up a 4-1 win over Concordia at Irvine Valley College.
CSUN, which defeated the Eagles for the second time this season, improves to 5-11 overall and is now 3-1 in its last four matches in the sand.
In a tight match at No. 1, Lauren Conati and Katie Sato won for the second straight match and third time this season after topping Rachel Flynn and Kaila Ames, 21-14, 15-21, 15-12. Conati and Sato are now 3-3 this season playing in the No. 1 slot.
CSUN's No. 2 pair of Julie Haake and Maddie Leiphardt continued their solid play over the last month as they swept Amber Rose and Marissa Boyd, 21-13, 21-13. After dropping eight of nine matches to open the season primarily at No. 1, Haake and Leiphardt have now won six of their last seven matches to improve to 7-9 this season and 3-3 at No. 2.
Aeryn Owens and Erin Indermill also continued their recent roll at No. 3 as the Matador duo claimed a three-set win over Kyra Auten and Taylor Dennison, 21-16, 13-21, 15-11. Owens and Indermill have won three straight matches at the No. 3 position and are now 6-5 overall this season.
Rachel Gam and Kristey Markle also won their third straight in the No. 4 match, sweeping Concordia's Madeline Deters and Ellie Ladensack, 21-13, 21-17. CSUN's only loss came in the No. 5 match as Logan Grove and Kailey Dudevoir snapped Nicoletta Stork and Nicolette Pinkney's three match win streak with a close 22-20, 22-20 win.
The host Eagles also won the extra match as Katie Napier and Morgan Nunley held off Nada Dragovic and Kamden Maas in three sets, 21-9, 21-23, 15-11.
The Matadors return home next week to host nationally ranked UCLA and Loyola Marymount at the CSUN Beach Volleyball Facility next Wednesday, Apr. 20.
