NORTHRIDGE, CA - For the second straight season, the CSUN women's volleyball team opened conference play with wins over UC Irvine and UC Davis after the Matadors knocked off the Aggies in five sets Saturday night at the Pavilion on Davis.

CSUN got off to a solid start in set two as an Owens kill, followed by a Morgan Salone-Nada Dragovic block gave the Matadors an 11-6 lead. Salone and Dragovic teamed up again on a block and CSUN led 15-8 before extending the lead to 19-12 on a Conati kill.
The third set was also tight as the two teams forged a 19-19 tie when the Matadors rallied for the final six points, the last coming on a Dragovic kill, to take the frame 25-19.
UC Davis then out-hit CSUN .325 to .250 in winning the fourth set going away 25-18.
The Matadors bolted to a 3-0 lead in the fifth and would never trail. Eaglin's kill gave CSUN a 6-2 lead before another Haake kill extended the lead to 9-4. The leading by four at 12-8, the Aggies used a 3-1 run to pull within 13-11.
