Led by senior Katie Sato's match-high 23 digs, CSUN had 60 team digs to 47 for Long Beach but the 49ers win the battle at the net with 13.0 team blocks to the Matadors' 7.0. Sato's total was her best total since posting a career-high 26 digs against Pepperdine on Sept. 1.Â

The Matadors bolted out to a 10-2 lead in set one and then held on after the 49ers closed to within 18-16. After an Owens kill set CSUN up with set point, Long Beach saved one set point before Nickeisha Williams connected sending the Matadors to the 25-22 win.
CSUNÂ then hit .189 in dropping the second set but hit .400 without a single hitting error in set three, but lost 25-21. Set four went to the hosts by the same 25-21 score as the Matadors came away empty in the Walter Pyramid for the fourth straight match.
