
Trejo Named Big West Offensive Player Of The Year; 5 Earn League Honors

IRVINE, Calif.—CSUN's Daniel Trejo was selected Big West Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year the league announced Nov. 12.
Trejo paced the conference in points with 25 points. The Mendota native tied for the league lead in goals (9) with two other players. The junior forward tied with two other players for third in the Big West in assists (7). Trejo is the first CSUN player to earn Big West Offensive Player of the Year since 2003-04 when Willie Sims won the award in back-to-back seasons. The Big West's active career leader in goals (26) and points (67), Trejo was also selected first team All-Conference.
Johnny Rodriguez and Alex Lara earned second-team All-Conference honors. Rodriguez was fourth in the Big West in goals scored (8) and was seventh in points (19). Rodriguez added three assists. Lara anchored the CSUN defense. He started all 17 matches in which he appeared, scoring one goal and recording two assists.
David Preys and Samuel Salter were named to the Big West All-Freshman Team. Preys played in 10 matches in goal for the Matadors, staring eight times. He was 2-4-2 with a 1.05 goals-against average and was fourth in the conference in saves with 33. He was named Big West Freshman of the Week Oct. 27. Salter was fourth on CSUN in points with eight. He scored three goals and added two assists. He was named Big West Freshman of the Week Sept. 2 after scoring twice in the 4-3 victory at Ohio State.
