NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Baseball (9-11) wraps up a five-game road trip this week with a pair of midweek games. The Matadors visit UNLV on Tuesday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. before heading to Pepperdine on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Both games will be streamed live as all video and stat links are available on the baseball schedule page at GoMatadors.com.
The Matadors are coming off a tough series loss at Iowa over the weekend. CSUN defeated the Hawkeyes in game one 8-5 behind a four RBI game from junior Sean Skelly. The Matadors would take a one-run lead to the bottom of the ninth in game two before Iowa scored two runs with two outs to hand CSUN a 5-4 defeat. The Hawkeyes would cool off the Matador bats in the finale, winning 3-1.
CSUN received a pair of quality starts from sophomore Wesley Moore and senior Isaiah Nunez. Moore allowed three runs, two of which were earned, over 6.1 innings of work. Nunez would follow up that performance with 6.2 innings of work, allowing three runs but two earned runs. On the offensive side, senior Kyle Barret racked up five hits including three extra base hits and scored three times. Skelly drove in five runs in the series and picked up three hits with two runs scored.

UNLV erased a 4-3 deficit in the game, scoring one in the sixth and three in the seventh to pull off the win at CSUN. The teams have not met in Las Vegas since the 2011 campaign when the Matadors captured a 9-3 win.
CSUN and Pepperdine have met 92 times dating back to the 1962 season with the Waves holding a narrow 46-44-2 edge. The teams have split the last eight meetings, which includes splitting a four-game season series in 2018. In a home-and-home series, Pepperdine beat CSUN 6-1 in Malibu and defeated the Matadors in Northridge 3-2 before CSUN won 8-4 at Matador Field. The series shifted back to Malibu a month later where the Matadors won 10-4. Sophomore Blake Schriever pitched in all four games and posted 4.1 shutout innings with three strikeouts.
Sophomore Blake Sodersten will earn his fifth start of the season on Tuesday as he comes into the matchup with UNLV with a 0-1 record, 4.67 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 17.1 innings. CSUN will name its Wednesday starter prior to facing Pepperdine.
