FORÂ STARTERS
The CSUN Beach Volleyball team (5-5) returns home Wednesday to host a midweek tri-dual against No. 13 Loyola Marymount and Colorado Mesa. The Matadors take on the Lions of LMU at 11 a.m. and Colorado Mesa at 3 p.m.
Last week, CSUN split a tri-dual against Missouri State (L, 4-1) and Vanguard (W, 5-0) before going on the road and earning a pair of wins in a tri-dual against Marymount University and CSU Bakersfield Saturday at the Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex in Bakersfield.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Loyola Marymount, ranked 13th in this week's AVCA poll, is 6-5 this season after falling in a 3-2 decision to No. 7 Cal Poly Saturday at the Ocean Park Courts in Santa Monica. Colorado Mesa is 1-2 after winning one of three matches at Arizona's Cactus Classic in Tucson. The Mavericks were swept, 5-0 by No. 14 Arizona and Boise State before defeating Benedictine Mesa, 3-2 for their first win of the season.
Series Histories
The Matadors are 1-7 (1-4 in Northridge) all-time against Loyola Marymount after falling to the Lions, 5-0 in their 2019 season opener. CSUN is unbeaten in three matches all-time against Colorado, all Matador wins coming at home.Â

The CSUN Beach Volleyball team evened its season record at 5-5 after picking up a pair of tri-dual wins Saturday at CSU Bakersfield's Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex.
The Matadors swept Marymount University in Saturday's opener, 5-0 as CSUN won all 10 sets over the Mariners. The Matadors then extended their season-long winning streak to three straight with a 3-2 win over the host Roadrunners.
Darbi Honeycutt and Mikaela Maughan took a straight-set (21-17, 21-17) decision over Brooke Horack and Landry Armstrong at No. 2 to earn their their fifth consecutive win and team-leading sixth victory of the season. Taylor Brydon and Lauren McMurraythen won 21-17, 21-6 over Madison Hallen and Elizabeth Steubs to make it 2-0 CSUN. The Matadors then clinched the dual in the second flight of matches as Daniella Molinari and Seyvion Waggoner snapped a six-match skid with a 21-18, 21-17 win over Aiko Waters and Jaylyn Porras at No. 1. Nicole Nevarez and Lexi McLeod won their second straight, defeating Alysa Wertz and Jordan Manuel 21-11, 21-11 at No. 3 before Cassidy Rosso and Kailey Klein made quick work of Lauren Addington and Mariana Tuner, 21-7, 21-9 at No. 5 to complete the sweep.

The Matadors then avenged an earlier 4-1 loss to the Roadrunners in Malibu (Mar. 2) by taking three of the five matches Saturday to improve their season record to 5-5.
CSUB won the top two pairs on Saturday as Mattison DeGarmo and Briannah Mariner snapped the five-match win streak of Honeycutt and Maughan who moved up to the No. 1 spot for just the second time this season. The Roadrunners came back after dropping set one to claim a 14-21, 21-17, 15-11 win. Molinari and Waggoner played in the No. 2 spot against CSUB, falling to Cameron Solberg and Milica Vukobrat, 21-19, 21-15. The Matadors clinched the dual win with wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5. Brydon and McMurray matched Honeycutt and Maughan with their sixth win of the season, defeating Sidney Wicks and Hana Makonova, 21-16, 21-12 at No. 3. Nevarez and McLeod evened their pairs record at 5-5 with a 21-13, 21-13 sweep over Brooke Boiseau and Krista Hernandez at No. 4 before CSUN claimed the victory as Rosso and Klein defeated the Roadrunner pair of Emily Hansen and Ally Barber, 21-15, 21-13 at No. 5.
BIG WEST BEACH VOLLEYBALL
This season marks CSUN's fourth season as a member of the Big West Conference in beach volleyball. The Matadors, seeded fourth in the six-team field in Hawai'i in 2018, were upset by fifth-seeded CSU Bakersfield in the opening round (3-2) before falling to No. 2 seed Cal Poly in an elimination match (5-0).The Matadors were also seeded fourth at the 2017 Big West Tournament held at Pismo Beach, but fell to Sacramento State (3-2) and Cal Poly (5-0) in their two tournament matches.
In 2016, CSUN was the third seed in the conference tournament before finishing 2-2 including a close 3-2 loss to Cal Poly in a third round elimination match at Huntington Beach. CSUN will host the 2019 Big West Tournament, scheduled for Apr. 26-27, at Zuma Beach in Malibu.
