Matadors Cap Regular Season with 4-1 Win Over Westcliff

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The CSUN Beach Volleyball team concluded the regular season with a 4-1 victory over Westcliff University Friday afternoon at the Matador Beach Volleyball Complex.
In its final tune-up before next week's Big West Tournament at Zuma Beach, the Matadors won four of the five pairs against the Warriors. The win was the sixth straight for CSUN, which improved to 14-10 on the season.
Nicole Nevarez and Lexi McLeod picked up CSUN's first point in the dual by sweeping Crissy Almorade and Saipeti Fuiava in the No. 4 match by the score of 21-9, 21-11. Darbi Honeycutt and Mikaela Maughan made it 2-0 Matadors with a sweep over Kaitlyn Meyer and Sierra Lim in the No. 2 pair, 21-13, 21-11. The pairs of Nevarez/McLeod and Honeycutt/Maughan both improved to 15-9 on the season.
Taylor Brydon and Lauren McMurray improved to a team-best 16-8 with a 21-11, 21-9 sweep over Vasiti Baleilomaloma and Sydney Hill in the No. 3 match. The win clinched CSUN's 14th team  win of the season. Cassidy Rosso, who was honored as CSUN's lone 2019 senior, teamed up with Kailey Klein for their 15th win of the season at No. 5 by sweeping Enjelica Glattli and Aliza Atkins, 21-11, 21-14.
The Warriors picked up their lone point in the final pair, as Mikayla Richard and Lydie van Deursen swept CSUN's Daniella Molinari and Seyvion Waggoner, 21-15, 21-19 in the No. 1 pair.
COACH NOELLE ROOKE SAID
"It was very nice to send our lone senior, Cassidy Rosso, out with a win on Senior Day! Her growth within our program has been nothing shy of spectacular. Her leadership, work ethic and inclusiveness will sorely be missed."

CSUN will host the 2019 Big West Beach Volleyball Tournament next week at Zuma Beach in Malibu. The tournament gets underway Friday, Apr. 26 and continues Saturday, Apr. 27. All matches will be streamed live on p1440.com.
