NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Freshman Kyle Hobus' 17 kills led three CSUN hitters in double figures but visiting Ball State overcame a two sets to one deficit to knock off the Matadors in five sets in a non-conference match Friday night at The Matadome.

COACH JEFF CAMPBELL SAID
"We improved in a lot of areas and our effort was great tonight. Our passing broke down a little bit and we're simply making too many errors at critical times. We have some inexperienced players and they will have to figure out how to win these close matches. We'll address our weaknesses and we will be better next week."Â
SET 1
With the score tied at 10-10, the Matadors took advantage of three kills and a pair of Ball State hitting errors to open up a 15-10 lead. CSUN extended the lead to six at both 17-11 and 18-12 before a 3-0 Cardinals run trimmed the lead to three. Following a Matador timeout, CSUN claimed four of the next five points to push the lead back to six at 22-16.
