CSUN Goes 4-1 At Libby Matson Classic With Win Over CSUB

STOCKTON, Calif.—CSUN completed the Libby Matson Classic Sunday by defeating CSU Bakersfield 6-2 to earn a 4-1 tournament record.

CSUN (7-3) travel to the Grand Canyon Purple Classic next weekend, playing five games. Action begins Friday at 11 a.m. with a game against Drake.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jessica Alexander broke the seal with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first that plated Savannah Favre.
- With one out in the bottom of the third, Favre reached on an infield single. After stealing second, she advanced to third on a Kira Cauley infield single. Cauley moved to second on the play. Alexander singled in Favre and moved to second on the play while Cauley went to third. Megan Stevens drove in both Cauley and Alexander with a single to right center, earning the Matadors a 4-0 lead.
- Kenedee Jamerson pitched the first four innings, allowing two hits, before giving way to Elise Madison in the fifth. The Roadrunners (0-8) scored twice in the fifth as Candace Haiiburton and Samantha Martinez drove in runs.
- Alyssa Vazquez opened the CSUN sixth with a double. Aailyah Swan singled pinch-runner Autumn Cauthron to third. Swan stole second to give the Matadors two runners in scoring position. With two outs, Favre was hit by a pitch. Cauley reached on an error which allowed Swan and Cauthron to score the final runs of the game.
- Madison recorded the three-inning save as she settled down and scattered three hits over her stint. Both Jamerson and Madison struck out two batters. Swan went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Cauley was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Favre scored twice.
