
Aguilar Chosen First Team All-Conference; Ricketts Named To All-Freshman Team

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—Giovanni Aguilar was named first-team All-Conference while Jamar Ricketts was named to the All-Freshman Team as the Big West Conference announced individual men's soccer awards Nov. 12.
Aguilar tied with Ricketts for the team lead in goals with three. He led the team and was 15th in the Big West in assists (3) and paced the Matadors in points with nine and was 20th in the conference in points per game in 2021. Aguilar took 19 shots and played 1,483 of a possible 1,654 minutes during the season. A fifth-year student, Aguilar was named honorable mention All-Conference as a freshman and as a sophomore. He was a member of the 2017 Big West All-Freshman team.
"Gio will go down as one of the most well-rounded midfielders and student-athletes in our program history," said CSUN head coach Terry Davila. "He will be missed."
In addition to his three goals, Ricketts was second on the squad in assists with two and points with eight. He took a team-high 33 shots and ranked seventh in the Big West in shots on goal (0.83) and 12th in the Big West in shots per game (1.84).
"Jamar is an outstanding athlete, and his best is yet to come," Davila said.
