NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - CSUN junior Felix Schrott has been named Big West Conference Golfer of the Month for October as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
The award is the first for Schrott and the first for a Matador men's golfer since Felix Mory won Big West Player of the Month for January of 2018.
"Felix is an extremely consistent ball striker, he hits a lot of fairways and greens and when he putts well he's going to be very successful," said CSUN head coach Jim Bracken. 'We're certainly looking for Felix to carry over his strong play this Fall into the Spring portion of the 2021-22 season."
Schrott played in all three of CSUN's tournaments in October, posting three top-25 finishes including a third-place at the most recent Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic (Oct. 29-31). He finished the month with a 70.1 scoring average while posting five consecutive rounds in the 60's. He opened the month with a 21st place at CSUN's Bill Cullum Invitational (+9, 225) before finishing 14th at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational (-6, 207) and third at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic (-14, 199).Â
Schrott finished the Fall season with a 71.13 scoring average which ranked second to Blake Brothers' 71.06. As a team, CSUN had four top-10 finishes in five events. Schrott and the Matadors are back on the course Feb. 7 as CSUN competes at the Orange County Collegiate in Coto de Caza.
