NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN head softball coach Charlotte Morgan has announced the signing of Alexis Martinez to a National Letter of Intent to continue her playing career with the Matadors.
Martinez will join CSUN after graduating from Diamond Bar High School in Diamond Bar, Calif. in the Spring of 2021. Martinez was selected honorable mention All-League and team Rookie of the Year as a freshman. She was chosen first-team All-League and as a Top 50 pitcher in the San Gabriel Valley Southern Section as a sophomore after leading the Hacienda League in strikeouts with 106.
Martinez went 5-1 during her abbreviated 2020 junior season for the Brahmas. She struck out 33 in nine appearances in the circle a year ago. A four-time school Scholar-Athlete selection, she maintains a 3.5-grade point average.
"Alexis is going to come in and make a difference right away in our program," Morgan said. "She represents exactly what a Matador is with how hard-working, passionate, and a great person. She's a competitor in the circle and can't wait to see her impact on our program on and off the field. We couldn't be more excited to have her and her family part of CSUN softball."
Martinez joins Alexis Garcia and Daisey Tinsley in the 2022 recruiting class. Alexis Lemus and Jaclyn Silva have signed with CSUN and are scheduled to begin their Matador careers in 2021. The 2021 CSUN season is set to begin Mar. 20-21 when the Matadors face Cal Poly in a three-game Big West series.
