Matadors Shoot Final Round 308, Finish 13th at Rainbow Wahine Invitational

KAPOLEI, Hawai'i - Despite shooting its low round of the tournament on Wednesday, the CSUN women's golf team wasn't able to move up from a 13th place finish as the Rainbow Wahine Invitational concluded at Kapolei Golf Course.Â
After posting a first round 315 on Monday, the Matadors improved by four shots on Tuesday (311) before posting a final round 308. CSUN's tournament total of 934 left the Matadors 13th in the field Colorado State claimed the team title at 7-under 857 while the Rams' Sofia Torres and Gonzaga's Cassie Kim shared individual medalist honors at 5-under 211.Â
Grace Bettis finished as the low Matador player, tying for 42nd at 15-over 231, her low 54-hole total of the season. Bettis had three birdies on Wednesday and was even-par through seven holes. She added another birdie but also had five bogeys over her final 11 holes to finish the day at 4-over 76.

The Rainbow Wahine Invitational closes the fall portion of the 2022-23 season for the Matadors who will resume tournament play next Feb. 1 by hosting CSU Bakersfield and Long Beach State in a three-team tri-match at Soule Park in Ojai.

CSUNÂ SCORES
- Fernanda Sosa Stackpole, who was CSUN's low player in each of the first two round, had a pair of birdies along with 11 bogeys in posting a final round 9-over 81. Sosa Stackpole wound up with rounds of 76-76-81 to tie for 49th at 17-over 233.
- Elle Laur had her best round of the tournament on Wednesday, posting one birdie and 13 pars on her way to 3-over 75. Laur, who improved each round, wound up with rounds of 83-78-75 to tie for 61st at 20-over 236.
- Freshman Gracie Piar also had her low round of the tournament, firing a final round 4-over 76. After opening with a bogey on her opening hole (No. 18), Piar birdied No. 1 before carding 10 consecutive pars to head into her final six holes at even-par. She closed with two more par but also four bogeys to finish 69th at 24-over 240.
- Fellow freshman Kim Turgut wasn't able to replicate her 5-over 77 in round one as she finished with rounds of 83 on Tuesday and 82 on Wednesday to finish 70th at 26-over 242.
