SET 1
The Highlanders claimed the first six points of the match and never trailed in the opening set. Still down six at 9-3, the Matadors rallied to within four after an Anderson-Orshoff block and an Orshoff kill pulled CSUN within 15-11. An ensuing 7-2 run by CSUN knotted the score at 8-8 following a Barron kill. The Matadors took their first lead on the next point as a kill by Nevarez put CSUN up by one. The hosts then put together a 6-3 run to take a 15-12 lead into the media timeout. The Matadors answered with a 4-0 run to re-take the lead 16-15 and CSUN would pull away late for the 25-21 win.
