BOISE, Idaho---CSUN Men's Basketball (1-5) gave defending Mountain West champion Boise State (5-2) a battle for 40 minutes but the Matadors would come out on the short end of a 55-46 decision on Tuesday at ExtraMile Arena. Three Matadors scored in double figures led by De'Sean Allen-Eikens with 11 points while Atin Wright and Ethan Igbanugo had 10 points apiece. Allen-Eikens ended the dry spell with a jumper before Dionte Bostick finished a 3-point play moments later. Igbanugo then drained a 3-pointer in the final minute, closing an 8-0 CSUN run to go in front 27-26. On the final possession of the half, CSUN foced a Boise State miss but Rice picked up yet another Bronco offensive rebound leading to a pair of late free throws to put his team ahead at halftime (28-27).
The Matadors missed their first six shots out of intermission but managed to stay within striking distance with a solid effort on the defensive side. Bostick would bring CSUN to within 37-32 with a jumper at the 13:47 mark. Minutes later, CSUN fell behind by eight before Wright scored five-straight points to quickly make it a 40-37 game. Rice though answered on the ensuing possession, which would be followed by a key three from Jace Whiting to stretch the lead to eight (45-37).

ACCORDING TO COACH TRENT JOHNSON
"I thought we played extremely hard. I thought we defended a very good basketball team. Their physicality really hurt us on the glass. I just feel for them because at the start of the second half, we executed. We had really good looks, it's just the ball didn't go down so we were playing behind from there. Like I told them, if they can understand what went off in the month of November, in terms of hurting ourselves by not defending and not getting back on transition defense, and the things that were corrected tonight.
We're off tomorrow. It'll be nice to get home. Once we get home, we've got to understand what we're capable of when we play as hard as we did tonight and when we execute."
