NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—For the second consecutive season, CSUN's Ekaterina Repina was selected first-team All-Big West Conference as the league announced its annual awards on May 4.
Playing in the No. 1 singles position, Repina went 5-4 with three matches going unfinished during the 2022 campaign. The redshirt senior from Voronezh, Russia, is the first Matador to repeat as a first-team All-Conference selection in singles since Jennifer Sher was named first-team All-Conference in 2011 and 2012. In addition, Repina is only the fourth CSUN player to be named first-team All-Big West on two occasions since the Matadors joined the conference in 2002.
"Kat has shown herself to be one of the top players in the Big West since her arrival," said CSUN head coach Gary Victor. "Kat has grown as a student-athlete in many ways, and we are so proud of her."
Seniors Jolene Coetzee and Ana Isabel Fraile Toboso were named honorable mention All-Conference in doubles. In addition, the duo earned an All-Conference honor for the second year in a row as the pair were selected second-team All-Conference in 2021. Playing No. 1 for CSUN, Coetzee and Fraile Toboso led the Matadors in wins with eight (8-5) and three unfinished matches.
"Jolene and Ana have been an awesome team together," Victor said. "They support each other and their teammates. They have been the glue to this team for the past four years. Jolene is having wrist surgery next week and played through a great deal of pain (this past season). Her courage has been a motivating force for her teammates."
