The Matadors (4-15, 3-6 Big West) travel to UC San Diego on Thursday at 7 p.m. before coming home to host league leader UC Irvine on Saturday at 2 p.m. Saturday is Youth Day at CSUN with the Matadors conducting a post game clinic for the youth players in attendance.

ESPN+ will stream both games. Jill Painter Lopez will have the call on Saturday in Northridge. This week's games will conclude a stretch of seven games in 17 days for the Matadors. Â

ABOUT UC SAN DIEGO
The Tritons are 8-10 overall and are tied for fourth in the Big West with Hawai'i with a 5-3 mark.

Sydney Brown is one of the top players in the conference. She is fourth in the conference in rebounding (7.3), sixth in scoring (13.1), seventh in free throw percentage (.784), 12th in blocked shots (0.6), and 14th in minutes (30.1).

Thursday is the third time CSUN and UCSD play women's basketball, with the Matadors leading the all-time series 2-0. The Matadors defeated the Tritons 65-52 in the lone meeting last season between the two clubs.

Since playing on Jan. 14, the Anteaters have maintained the top spot in the Big West with a 15-3 overall mark and improved to 7-0 in league play with a 71-67 overtime victory at Hawai'i on Jan. 19. The Anteaters host Cal State Fullerton Thursday night before traveling to Northridge.

Hunter Hernandez was named Big West Player of the Week on Jan. 23. Hernandez averaged 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in a pair of wins last week. She is UCI's active leader in scoring (10.7) and rebounding (5.2). She also has posted 26 steals this season.

JACKSON JOINS CSUN 1,000 POINT CLUB
CSUN guard Jordyn Jackson became the 14th Matador women's basketball player to score 1,000 career points on Jan. 21 at Cal State Fullerton. Jackson's 1000th point came at the 6:00 mark of the first quarter on a layup after she made a steal. Entering this week's action, Jackson has scored 1,007 career points. She is 82 points away from 13th place Tessa Boagni (2014-18).
