NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Women's Basketball's head coach Carlene Mitchell has announced the signing of transfer Addison Potts. A 6-0 guard from Fort Myers, Fla., Potts will join the Matadors for the 2024-25 season.
"Addi is a fabulous sign for our program and she understands the balance of competing at a high level on the court and in the classroom," said Mitchell. "Addi has a great basketball IQ and is a versatile scorer while her length can make her a disruptive defensive player within our schemes. Addison had a unique journey as a highly-recruited athlete. She was looking for a family atmosphere, a chance to make an immediate impact and a space to grow in. We couldn't be happier that she chose CSUN."
Currently playing for her hometown Florida Southwestern State this season, Potts began her collegiate career last season at Purdue University. Potts appeared in five games as a true freshman with the Boilermakers. She played a season-high seven minutes and scored her first career collegiate points against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
A former three-star recruit out of high school, Potts had a standout prep career where she tallied over 2,500 points. She would finish off her senior year at South Fort Myers High School where she averaged over 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists per game. In addition, she shot above 50 percent from the field and tallied 620 points, breaking the school's single-season scoring record. Potts would help lead South Fort Myers to its first district championship in 14 seasons and its first regional playoff win in school history.
As a senior, Potts was named all-state, all-region, all-district and all-area while she was a finalist for the SWFL Region Player of the Year. She would also take home the 2022 Prep Girls Hoops Florida Miss Basketball award. A six-year letterwinner in high school basketball, Potts earned a host of prep awards including three-time first-team News-Press SWFL All-Area, three-time News-Press SWFL Player of the Year finalist, SSAC First Team Florida and Player of the Year finalist, FACA 3A Player of the Year, Impact Academy Player of the Year and FACA 5A Player of the Year.
Potts was ranked No. 103 player in the nation and No. 26 guard in the nation with a 90 rating by ESPN HoopGurlz while she was rated No. 99 player in the nation by All-Star Girls Report.
