NORTHRIDGE, Calif.--- Two CSUN women's basketball student-athletes were named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on March 24. Rita Nazario and Mariona Cos-Morales were named to the team for their work in the classroom and on the court.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District Women's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Both awards are the first in their respective CSUN careers. A total of 510 student-athletes competing in women's basketball across Division-I received the annual honor.
A mechanical engineering major, Nazario is coming off a sophomore campaign in which she averaged a team-best 10.4 PPG. She led the Matadors in three-pointers made with 68 and played in all 30 games.
Cos-Morales, who majored in communication studies, was a staple in the Matador starting lineup in her first and final season at CSUN. Her 25 games started was the most by any player for the year. She averaged 4.3 PPG and 3.7 RPG while she was third on the team in blocks per game at 0.8 per contest.
In order to qualify for the award, an undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games.
