CSUN Baseball Releases 2024 Schedule

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Baseball head coach Eddie Cornejo has announced the 2024 schedule. The Matadors will host 25 games at Matador Field including two non-conference series while CSUN has 30 road games on tap highlighted by a four-game series with Oregon State.

Coming off its best season in 21 years, CSUN will take on eight teams that posted 30 or more wins last season while nine total opponents had winning records.

"We will be challenged this season with frequent road trips and opponents that continue to elevate themselves year after year," said Cornejo. "Looking forward to seeing what kind of team we will become."

CSUN opens the 2024 slate with a three-game series with Utah Valley at Matador Field from Feb. 16-18. The Matadors will hit the road for the first time on Tuesday, Feb. 20 to take take on San Diego State then travel to St. George, Utah for a weekend series with Utah Tech (Feb. 23-25). February wraps up with a home midweek matchup with San Diego (Feb. 27).

The Matadors host Nevada in a weekend series for the first time since 2006 from March 1-3 before heading to Oregon State for a marquee four-game series from March 7-10. The Beavers are coming off a 41-win season in 2023 and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Also in non-conference action, CSUN will host midweek tilts with Pepperdine (March 19), California Baptist (April 9) and San Diego State (April 30). The Matadors will visit Utah during the month of April for a three-game series (April 5-7) while road midweek games are set for San Diego (March 12), California Baptist (March 25), Pepperdine (April 16) and Fresno State (April 23).

CSUN will play eight-straight games on the road during the month of March, culminating with its Big West-opening series at Cal Poly (March 15-17). The following week, the Matadors visit UC Riverside in another conference series (March 22-24) before hosting their first Big West series from March 28-30 against UC Davis.

The Matadors host Long Beach State this season from April 12-14 while they also face Cal State Bakersfield (April 26-28), defending Big West champion UC San Diego (May 10-12) and UC Santa Barbara (May 17-19) at Matador Field.

CSUN visits Cal State Fullerton, last season's Big West automatic NCAA qualifier, from April 19-21. The Matadors also travel to Hawai'i from May 3-5 and will wrap up the regular season on the road at UC Irvine from May 23-25.
Cornejo led CSUN to a 34-17 overall record and 20-10 Big West record in his first season as head coach in 2023. CSUN finished tied for second place with Cal State Fullerton in The Big West standings, one game back of first place. The Matadors' overall record, Big West win percentage (.667) and finish in the conference standings were the program's best since the 2002 season.
