FIRST PITCH
CSUN travels to Cathedral City to participate in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. The Matadors open the tournament Thursday night when CSUN faces Texas A&M.

Friday's action sees the Matadors face Oregon State at 6 p.m. and Ohio State at 8:30 p.m.

CSUN's tournament stay concludes on Saturday against Iowa at 3 p.m.

ABOUT TEXAS A&M
At 9-2, the Aggies are ranked 19th in this week's D1Softball.com Top 25 and 19th in the Softball America Top 25 poll.

Trinity Cannon is hitting .519, the 14th highest in Division I this week. She was 17th in Division I in on-base percentage (.641), tied with teammate Julia Contril for 40th in hits with 14, and 58th in slugging percentage (.859).

Texas A&M is patient at the plate, walking 56 times in 11 games, the third most in Division I entering this week's play.

Four different Aggies' pitchers have at least two wins this season. Shaylee Ackerman is 3-1 with 24 strikeouts and a 1.59 ERA in a team-high 22 innings in 2023.

CSUN is playing Texas A&M for the first time since 2014. The Aggies lead the all-time series 6-2.

ABOUT OREGON STATE
The Beavers begin the week with a 4-6 record. Madison Simon is hitting .435 with two home runs and five RBI for Oregon State. Her .917 slugging percentage ranks her 35th in Division I to start the week.

Sarah Haendiges is 2-2 with a 1.38 ERA. She has struck out 23 in a team-high 28.1 innings.

After matching up twice last season, Friday is the 37th time that CSUN and Oregon State are playing softball, with the Matadors leading the all-time series 20-14-1.

ABOUT OHIO STATE
Ohio State begins the week with a 3-5 record. Six of the eight Buckeyes' games this season have been against nationally ranked teams or have received votes in one of the four national polls.

Allison Smith has started four times, pitching a team-high 27.1 innings, striking out 31. Kami Kortokrax is leading the team in hitting .375.

CSUN and Ohio State are playing for the first time since 2018. The Matadors lead the all-time series 10-8.

ABOUT IOWA
Iowa brings a 6-3 record to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. The Hawkeye will face No. 1 UCLA before taking on the Matadors this week.

Nia Carter has posted an Iowa-best .414 batting average so far this season. In addition, three Hawkeyes' pitches have won twice in the circle this season.

Saturday marks the first time since 2012 that CSUN and Iowa are playing softball. The Matadors lead the all-time series 2-1.
