NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—Featuring 16 home games, CSUN women's basketball coach Carlene Mitchell has announced the 2023-24 Matadors' schedule.
Â
"In putting this schedule together, we focused on allowing our young team to grow at home, in front of our friends, family, and CSUN community in the confines of Premier America Credit Union Arena," Mitchell said. "We look forward to establishing a home court advantage and are excited about the schedule we have created."
Â
For the first time since 2019, CSUN opens the season at home when the Matadors host Utah State on Monday, Nov. 6. CSUN welcomes Seattle University to Premier America Credit Union Arena on Thursday, Nov. 9.
Â
The Matadors hit the road for the first time on Nov. 14 when CSUN travels to Santa Clara. The Matadors return home on Nov. 18 to host Hope International. CSUN closes November by beginning a three-game road trip at the University of Minnesota on the 22nd.
Â
The Matadors begin December with back-to-back games at 2023 NCAA Tournament participants Sacramento State (Dec. 2) and UCLA (Dec. 7). CSUN is at home for the remainder of the month as the non-conference slate closes with games against San Diego (Dec. 10), San José State (Dec. 18) and LMU (Dec. 21).
Â
Big West Conference play begins with home contests against Cal Poly (Dec. 28) and Long Beach State (Dec. 30). January opens with the first conference road game at Hawai'i on the sixth. After hosting UC Davis (Jan. 11), CSUN is at Cal State Fullerton (Jan. 13) and UC Santa Barbara (Jan. 18).
Â
January closes with home games against UC Riverside (Jan. 20) and UC Irvine (Jan. 27), wrapped around a road game at Cal State Bakersfield (Jan. 25). February begins at home against UC San Diego on the first, after consecutive road games at UC Riverside (Feb. 3) and Cal Poly (Feb. 8), CSUN hosts UCSB (Feb. 10) and CSUB (Feb. 15).
Â
The Matadors travel to Long Beach State on Feb. 17 and UC Davis on Feb. 22. CSUN hosts Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 24) before ending the month at UC Irvine (Feb. 29). The Matadors close the regular season at UC San Diego (Mar. 2) before hosting Hawai'i to end the regular season on Mar. 7.
Â
For the third consecutive season, the league tournament, the Hercules Tires Big West Basketball Championship, presented by the Hawaiian Islands, will be hosted in the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada, from March 13-16.
Â
"We have a challenging schedule, including road games at UCLA with their last season in the Pac 12 and at Big 10 Minnesota," said Mitchell. "With our first recruiting class having a year of experience under their belts and the additions of a freshman recruiting class, we look forward to continuing to build our program the CSUN way with hard work and commitment to the complete student-athlete experience."
Â
ESPN+ will stream all CSUN non-conference home games and every Big West game. Women's Basketball season tickets are $50, with CSUN students being admitted for free with ID. For more ticket information, head to GoMatadors.com.
