NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN head women's water polo coach Matt Warshaw has announced the 2024 schedule beginning on Saturday, Jan. 20. The Matadors will at least play eight teams that finished last season ranked in the top-25 nationally while CSUN will host three Big West games at Matador Pool this season.
"I'm excited to get things started, and we have arranged a competitive non-conference schedule to prepare us for the gauntlet that The Big West provides," said Warshaw who is in his eighth year with the program. "We have some games earmarked for sure. LMU and San Jose State will be excellent early season tests for us to see where we're at in regard to where we'll need to be in mid-April."
CSUN kicks off the regular season at the Beach Invite hosted by Long Beach State for the second-straight season on Jan. 20. The following week, the Matadors will participate at the CBU Invite and face Biola and nationally-ranked San Jose State on Jan. 27.
CSUN opens February at the Redlands Invitational for matches with host Redlands and Azusa Pacific (Feb. 3). The Matadors visit perennial top-20 team in LMU on Feb. 9 before meeting Concordia and the Claremont Mudd-Scripps at the Claremont Invitational (Feb. 10). CSUN's next six matches will take place at Cal Lutheran as the Matadors play host Cal Lutheran and the University of Toronto on Feb. 16 before squaring off with Cal Lutheran once more, along with Occidental, Cal State East Bay and LMU at the Tina Finali Invitational (Feb. 23-24).
After wrapping up February with matches against La Verne and Siena on Feb. 29, CSUN will compete at the Convergence Tournament hosted by Pomona-Pitzer (March 1). CSUN wraps up a busy weekend with its Big West opener at UC San Diego on March 2. The Matadors play two more invites in the Aztec Invitational (March 8-9) and the CBU Invitational where the Matadors face La Salle and California Baptist (March 12).
CSUN opens its home schedule on Friday, March 15, when the Matadors take on defending Big West champion UC Irvine. The Matadors make the trek to Hawai'i on March 23 before returning home for Big West clashes with Long Beach State (March 30) and UC Santa Barbara (Apr. 5). CSUN wraps up the league schedule with road matches at Cal State Fullerton (Apr. 7) and UC Davis (Apr. 12).
The 2024 Big West Women's Water Polo Championship will be held on the campus of UC Davis at the Schaal Aquatics Center from April 26-28.
