CSUN in 14th After Two Rounds of Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

MARICOPA, Ariz. - The CSUN women's golf team carded back-to-back rounds of 302 and sits in 14th place after two rounds of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic Wednesday at Ak-Shin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
At (+29) 604, the Matadors will open the final round just eight shots out of the top 10 in the 21-team field. Sacramento State (569) is the only team under par through 36 holes as the Hornets have a nine-shot lead over Long Beach State (578). Boise State (583), Santa Clara (584), and New Mexico State (585) round out the top five.
Sophomore Kim Turgut is the low Matador through two rounds as she is tied for 24th at 3-over 147. Turgut opened Wednesday with three birdies, 13 pars, and a pair of bogeys in a round of 1-under 71. She then added a single birdie, 12 pars, and five bogeys in the afternoon round to finish at 4-over 76. Turgut will open the final round just two shots out of the top 20.Â

"We didn't start or finish strong. There is still a lot of golf left with many birdies to be had! We know what we need to work on, but we need to execute to get into a fighting headspace for conference."
The Matadors will be paired with Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, and UTEP for the final round which gets underway Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. local time.

CSUNÂ SCORES
- Freshman Nicole Tanoue posted six birdies over the first 36 holes, including four in round two, and is tied for 43rd at 6-over 150. After opening with a 5-over 77 in round one, Tanoue finished the second round at 1-over 73 which moved her 18 spots up the leaderboard.
- Gracie Piar had five birdies, three coming in round one, and is currently tied for 69th at 10-over 154 following rounds of 78-76.
- Elle Laur notched four birdies and is tied for 74th at 11-over 155 after posting scores of 76-79.
- Meghan Paracuelles rounded out the CSUN scoring, as she is tied for 103rd at 16-over 160 following rounds of 82-78.
